The Aussie guys said that a Disco TD5 should be pulling at tickover between 55 and 65 Kg/Hr fresh air on the Nanocom readings and plus 500 at full power. Looking back on my readings I had a maximum flow rate was 32-33 at tickover. The obvious thing to do was check out the MAF sensor.

Not sure what happens to the gearbox programming when the engine goes into limp, but I suppose it is not outside the realms of possibility, fingers crossed getting the engine running properly will fix the box issue. One other idea -sticky solenoid, which I think are fairly easy to change.
